CARO has operated on $0 institutional funding for over 30 months. Every seat here is an honorarium, not a salary — real compensation for real hours, but not a full-time paycheck, not yet. What you get instead: work that's actually published, actually used, and actually yours to point to.

Every seat is paid an honorarium — compensated volunteer work, not a salary — but the actual rates aren't a secret. Two numbers exist for every tier: what's paid right now, and what activates automatically the moment our first institutional grant lands.
Most people start as an Assistant. Every one of those seats has a named path forward, built into the role itself, not left to chance.
